The annual export is between 200000 to 250000 tons of raisins from Iran to target markets. The share of this city of grapes is between 40000 to 50000 tones, which means 25 percent of Iran’s export. With about 70 operating units of raisin processing and packaging this city is one of the important cities regarding raisin.

Raisin processing units, along with gardeners, have so far formed an interconnected chain in the production and export of Malayer Raisin, and despite various obstacles and problems, they have made every effort to be in the top positions of raisin exports.

The market of Malayer Raisin

In the Iranian market, a variety of raisins are produced under different names according to the type of grape, the method, conditions of drying and its authorized additives. Farmers across Iran produce many varieties of raisins, through various methods. This type of raisin are used in cooking and nuts. The best and most useful raisin is the one which is made of ripe grapes, free of chemicals and sulfur, dried in the open air under sunlight or shade.

 

Good Malayer Raisins’ properties

High quality raisins should be free from any pests, grains, soil and any abnormal odor or taste. The moisture content in raisins should not exceed 5% by weight and depending on the method of preparation the amount of sulfur anhydride and sulfur smoke should not exceed 5% by weight.
